Beauty. What is beauty? Let´s talk about images and beauty?

Here are the topics for December. You can discuss some or just one of them:

Talking about image

Among other topics, Unit 2 focused on image, identity and clothing. Read the following posts (Does Clothing Reflect Your Personality? 7 Things You Should Know & Fashion Psychology: What clothes say about you) and discuss them with your peers and conversation tutor.

Dealing with group thinking (p. 36)

A group of friends often go out in the evening after work. Several members of the group often say very negative - and basically untrue - things about another friend who rarely joins the evenings out. One group member, Bob, has challenged them a couple of times, but they've accused him of having no sense of humor. Bob thinks the behavior is creating a lot of unnecessary negative feeling for everyone, but he's also aware that he's sticking his neck out and is in danger of making himself unpopular. What should he do?

What do these English expressions mean?

Pretty is as pretty does.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Beauty is only skin deep.
What you see is what you get.
